Rising-film evaporators are commonly used to concentrate non-scaling liquids.
In rising film evaporators, liquid enters the bottom of the tubes and is heated to boiling. The expansion of the vapor carries the liquor out the top of the tube, where the resulting vapor and liquid are separated. Rising film evaporators are used in many applications because the system is mechanically simple with few pumps and has relatively low installation and operating costs.
